Editor: So, this bronze relief is titled "Pride," and it’s part of a series called "The Seven Deadly Sins" by an anonymous artist. The winged figure seems to be flaunting her beauty and… what is that, a mirror? What do you see in this piece? Curator: Oh, she certainly does. You know, Pride is often depicted as a woman – a queen, or a goddess – but there's a vulnerability here too, don’t you think? The horse, a symbol of nobility, is more like a small, frightened pony. Perhaps it’s about the fragility of earthly status. Editor: Hmmm, a frightened pony, that’s a good point. I initially missed that tension in the piece, but I see it now. Thanks! Curator: My pleasure.
