This textile piece by Séguin et Cie presents a field of stylized floral motifs, each a miniature sun, radiating life and energy against a dark ground. These blossoms, reminiscent of ancient solar symbols, carry echoes of vitality and renewal. The larger flower recalls the rosettes found in ancient Mesopotamian art. The small flower is very like the daisy, which has long symbolized purity. Consider its appearance on funerary steles from classical antiquity, where the daisy signified the soul's hopeful journey to paradise. Over time, this symbol resurfaces in illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, signifying the radiance of divine wisdom. The daisy and its variants are a motif constantly reborn. The repetition of these blossoms taps into our collective memory, creating a rhythm that is both comforting and evocative. Much like the endless cycle of nature, the flowers express our subconscious longing for permanence and rejuvenation, reminding us of the enduring power of symbols to convey timeless truths.
