Avondjasje van flessengroene velours chiffon 1948

This evening jacket, made out of bottle-green velvet chiffon, looks like an interesting garment to wear, maybe after a few cocktails, while telling stories, or going to an opening. When I look at it, I think about the artist's touch and the way the fabric folds and drapes. It's a bit like paint, really. The texture of the velvet has its own kind of voice. The deep green color is so rich and inviting, it makes me wonder what kind of world the artist was trying to create with it. Was she thinking about nature, or maybe a secret garden? There’s a sense of mystery and maybe even a touch of melancholy. I love how the material seems to shift and change depending on the light, just like a painting.
