This untitled print was made by Alexander Calder, and it's like peeking into the artist's mind. You can see the process. The piece presents these playful shapes, almost like a diagram for a mobile, with notes scribbled in French. I’m drawn to the lines that slice through the ovals, creating a sense of movement. It’s amazing how he captures volume and depth with such simple strokes. The colours are there in the writing; rouge, blanc and noir. It's a very elemental palette, the basis for everything. Looking at this piece reminds me of Miró, both of them playing with abstraction, but Calder brings this unique sense of lightness. To me, it’s like a dance, a conversation between the artist and the materials. It's not just about what you see, but what you feel.
