This is a lithograph made by Gordinne, it's titled 'The two disobedient children.' This piece is delightful. It reminds me of those early comic strips, with figures moving through a sequence of frames. Looking at it, I’m thinking about the artist’s process. How much was planned, and how much emerged? The colours are muted and playful. The figures appear to be acting out a domestic drama with a wagon and some pets... I like the way Gordinne emphasizes the dog’s leap from the wagon. The moment is so full of energy, the animal a blur of motion. This gesture alone makes me feel like I understand the feeling of the piece. It also reminds me of other image-makers like Breugel and Hogarth who explored the chaos of human behaviour. It goes to show you, every artist is building on something that came before, working within a history and tradition, but also pushing against it, trying to make something new.
