This untitled piece was made by Manabu Mabe, and the way he's layered the paint gives you the feeling he worked intuitively, letting the painting grow organically. The surface is a playground of textures! Thick strokes wrestle with translucent washes, and you can almost see Mabe's hand moving, swerving, and diving into the canvas. That thin orange line slicing across the middle is key. It divides the canvas but also connects these chaotic planes. And there’s that little patch of green, just hanging out. Is it a mistake? A deliberate spark? This reminds me of some of Joan Mitchell's looser, wilder paintings, where the process feels as important as the image. It’s like the painting is figuring itself out as it goes. We're all just trying to figure it out, right?
