These white leather sandals, trimmed with light blue leather, were crafted by Silvia Fiorentina. Looking at these shoes, you can see they aren't just things to be worn, but they're objects imbued with the trace of the maker’s hand, that trimming of blue leather. It's not just a line; it's a gesture, a soft embrace of the white. The material itself—leather—has a history, a life lived. It bears the marks of its origin, and Fiorentina, in her making, adds another layer to that history. The color is so restrained, that thin line of light blue almost disappearing into the white. It’s a dance between visibility and invisibility. It makes me think of the early shoes of Manolo Blahnik, with their similarly thoughtful and playful approach to line, color, and form. Art, like shoemaking, is an ongoing conversation, each piece echoing and responding to those that came before. There’s no one way to read it, no single truth. It’s open, like a good pair of shoes, to be worn and walked in, to take us on our own journeys of discovery.
