Alexander Calder made The Big Wheel with paint on canvas, sometime around 1970. It's got this playful energy, right? Like he's not trying too hard, just letting the colors and shapes do their thing, which is a lot like how I approach a canvas too! Looking at the surface, you can almost feel the brushstrokes. The paint isn’t super thick, but it's definitely there, doing its job. It's a real mix of precision and looseness, especially where the blue meets the yellow. It’s like he’s saying, "Hey, it doesn't have to be perfect to be interesting." I’m reminded of Joan Miró’s paintings, with their similar love of simple shapes and bold colors. It's this ongoing conversation, you know?
