This "Clock Face" was drawn by Ann Gene Buckley and it's a reminder that art can tick to its own rhythm. Buckley uses watercolor, so everything is pretty thin, like a veil. I love the way the background mimics wood grain, but then she throws in these delicate pink flowers around the clock face, such a strange combo. It's like time is passing in a gentle, almost whimsical way. The Roman numerals are so neat. I’m drawn to the top flourish, this ornate gold pattern that feels both decorative and a little bit regal. It’s as if Buckley is suggesting that even something as functional as a clock can be elevated, made special, a little moment of beauty in the everyday. It makes me think of Joseph Stella, the way he found these incredible hidden patterns in the everyday. Art isn't about answers, it's about seeing time, and everything else, in a new way.
