This is a landscape photograph of the port of Lekeitio by Delizy, in which everything feels soaked in sepia. I wonder what it was like for them, out there on the docks. Did they feel the sea spray on their face? What does the air smell like? Can you hear the sound of the rigging flapping in the wind? The artist has lined up the composition just so to capture the buildings behind the boats, but the whole scene is softened with the passage of time, the colours muted with age. Think of all those sailors who set off from this port. Did they ever return? And what about the artist? Who were they? Did they sail away too? So many stories contained within this rectangle, frozen in time, a memory of a place, a time, and a way of life.
