I’m reminded of the work of Gerhard Richter, who uses photography as a jumping-off point for his paintings, blurring and distorting the image to create a sense of ambiguity and uncertainty. Like Richter’s work, this photograph invites us to question what we see, to consider the multiple layers of meaning that can be found in a single image. Art is an ongoing conversation.
