Cristiano Tassinari made this painting using loose brushwork with blues, pinks, and a touch of orange. Looking at this painting, I can imagine Tassinari layering and scraping away, trying to find his way through it. There’s something really generous in how he allows the painting to be unresolved, like a site of continual possibility. The imagery in the painting feels as if it has been lifted from somewhere else, perhaps a classical painting. This gives the artwork a sort of 'double exposure,' where two images overlap and coexist. It's as if the artist is in dialogue with the past, pulling it apart and putting it back together in a new and unexpected way. I love how Tassinari embraces uncertainty, inviting us to bring our own experiences to the work. It's a reminder that artists are in an ongoing conversation, and we’re all invited to join in!
