Loentje Onnen created this photo album page with gelatin silver prints, capturing a tennis match. Three images are arranged on a dark grey page: a player serving, two players on the court. I wonder about Onnen’s thought process here – her eye for composition. Maybe she was looking for something specific about tennis, its movements and poise? She's caught the players mid-action, full of energy and anticipation. The sepia tones soften the scene. It’s about capturing a moment in time. I imagine Onnen carefully selecting these images from a larger series, arranging them on the page to tell a story. It makes me think about the choices we make as artists, the decisions that shape our work and give it meaning. Even in something as simple as a snapshot, there's room for poetry, right?
