Alfredo Andersen captured Laforge Family's House with oil on canvas. I love the way the architecture here feels solid and timeless. I can imagine Andersen standing there, squinting in the sunlight, trying to capture the way the light filters through the trees. The paint looks thin, almost transparent, and the colors are muted, like they've been bleached by the sun. I wonder if it's supposed to be a house of dreams? A memory? There is something both real and unreal at the same time. The woman in white is about to go into the house, but the building is being overgrown by green vegetation. I think he's trying to say something about the passage of time, the way nature reclaims everything in the end. It makes me think about Corot. Painters like Andersen stand on the shoulders of other painters. Art is a big conversation. Each painter is expressing their own unique vision and experience, offering us new ways to think and feel.
