Here is the script: Oskar Kokoschka made this print of Max Reinhardt using strong, expressive lines. I bet the charcoal or ink was practically flying off the page! You can see Kokoschka was really trying to capture something beyond just the guy’s looks. I imagine he wanted to get at Reinhardt's essence, maybe his intensity or the way he commanded a stage. Look at those eyes—they're huge, alert, like they've seen everything. The lines around his mouth suggest a mix of weariness and determination. There's a raw energy here, like the artist was wrestling with the image, trying to pin it down but also letting it breathe. It reminds me of some of Egon Schiele’s portraits, all edgy and a bit unnerving. I think artists are often drawn to other artists, or people in the arts. Ultimately, it's up to us to bring our own baggage and feelings and experiences, our own interpretations. It's more about creating a space for a conversation.
