Enrico Castellani made this "Composition" with paint and maybe a few other things. He's got these thick, juicy marks—almost sculptural. It looks like he really went at it, you know? Like, he didn't just paint; he attacked the canvas. There’s white, but it’s not just white; there’s a whole symphony of whites, and greys, and blacks all vibrating together. And it makes you wonder, like, what’s underneath all that? Zoom in on the lower portion of the piece and you'll find this one spot where the paint's all bunched up, almost like a little mountain range. You can almost feel the weight of the paint, the drag of the brush, the struggle to make something come alive. It reminds me a bit of Alberto Burri with his stitched canvases. Different, sure, but there’s that same kind of raw energy, that willingness to just go for it. Ultimately, art isn’t about answers, it’s about the questions it asks.
