Albert Funke Küpper made this print called Katwijk, and honestly, I could stare at this little thing forever. It's all about the light and those scribbly marks that suggest depth, atmosphere, the dampness of the air, and the boats bobbing around. I can imagine Küpper standing there on the shore, squinting, trying to capture the essence of this harbor with his needle. Did he pause, feel the breeze, listen to the seagulls? I bet he loved the way the masts pierced the sky. There's something so immediate and intimate about prints, isn't there? Each line feels like a direct extension of the artist's hand, mind, and eye. With its moody atmosphere and masterful use of line, Katwijk offers a space of imaginative play and creative interpretation. It also contributes to an ongoing conversation about the representation of nature in art.
