Editor: This is "Album; Studies for 'Israel and the Law,'" by John Singer Sargent. It feels quite old, like a well-worn book. What strikes you most about this album? Curator: The album's cover itself becomes a symbolic portal. The green field, bordered by brown leather, suggests the binding of tradition and the freshness of interpretation. What do you see reflected in these colours? Editor: Maybe tradition and growth? I guess I didn’t realize even the cover could hold so much meaning. Curator: Indeed! It speaks to how Sargent considered the visual language of the whole object, inviting viewers to engage with the cultural weight of his preparatory studies. Editor: That’s fascinating; I'll definitely look at book covers differently now.
