Here's a photo, taken by Alfred Stieglitz, of Ida and Georgia O'Keeffe, printed on a small sheet, and it's just so intimate, you know? Looking at this image, I’m thinking about the relationship between Stieglitz and O’Keeffe, which was really complex, both personal and professional, and how that dynamic might have felt for the women in his life. You know, photography is all about capturing a moment, but it's also about relationships and how we see each other. The photograph is modest in scale, like a snapshot, and maybe that’s the point. I imagine Stieglitz trying to capture something real and unguarded, something about their connection. I think it's about how seeing and being seen can be so vulnerable and revealing. This photo makes me wonder how they might have seen themselves versus how Stieglitz saw them. It's a quiet little photo that speaks volumes!
