Curator: Elena Prentice's "Seascape, Maine," a watercolor and ink wash piece, presents us with a study of horizontal bands, about the size of a postcard. Editor: It feels like a memory fading, a place distilled down to its essence. What do those horizontal lines signify to you? Curator: Well, seascapes, particularly in their symbolic form, often act as metaphors for our internal landscapes, journeys of self-discovery, emotional depths… Editor: Do you think the artist was trying to show that with these symbols? Curator: I wonder if the artist felt this way—a sense of standing at the threshold of the unknown? The horizon line often represents such boundaries. Editor: I see it as more of a feeling, like a mood I can't quite place. It seems Elena Prentice captured that. Curator: Indeed, it invites you to project a mood onto it.
