LeRoy Neiman made Pink Nude with big gestures of the brush and a joyful palette of pinks, blues, and greens. I can imagine Neiman’s process, how he might have started with loose, gestural marks, letting the image emerge through layers of color and form. There’s something so alive about the physicality of paint here. The thick strokes, the way colors blend and contrast. I feel like Neiman was having a conversation with painters like Matisse, or even de Kooning. The dialogue between artists across time is endlessly inspiring. Each artist brings their own perspective, adding to the richness of the conversation. This painting feels like a moment of embodied expression, a celebration of ambiguity, leaving space for multiple interpretations and meanings.
