Touka shoukinzu 

This is “Touka shoukinzu” by Ito Jakuchu, an artist who lived in Japan during the Edo period. Jakuchu spent much of his life in Kyoto, where he was deeply influenced by Zen Buddhism. Here, amidst the delicate blossoms, the white doves contrast with the more common magpies, hinting at themes of purity and peace. These are common symbols in both Buddhist and Shinto beliefs. In a society rigidly stratified by class and social status, Jakuchu, though born into a merchant family, transcended these boundaries through his art.
