Editor: Here we have "2" by Sir Sidney Nolan. It's a monochromatic piece of dimensions 470 x 620 mm and it strikes me as both ethereal and unsettling. What's your read on the composition? Curator: Observe the stark contrast, a duality rendered through the medium itself. Note how Nolan uses the negative space, the untouched paper, to define form. The lines, are they decisive or tentative? Editor: Tentative, I think. They give the impression of movement, like a fleeting image. Curator: Precisely. And how does this perceived movement influence your understanding of the subject matter's implied narrative, its formal dynamism? Does the lack of definitive lines create ambiguity, inviting multiple readings? Editor: It does. I initially saw it as ominous, but now I appreciate the fluidity. Thank you.
