This tableau of tiles featuring swans and foliage was made by Plateelbakkerij De Distel. It's like a symphony of greens and whites, punctuated by those deep burgundy accents, all set against a glossy surface. You know, I can almost picture the artisan carefully painting each tile, the brushstrokes fluid and deliberate, trying to capture the grace of the swan and the delicate patterns of the leaves. It must have been so meditative to work on such a large scale piece like this. I'm thinking about how each tile is like a word or phrase, and when you put them together, you get this whole story unfolding. The way the swans are mirrored, it's kind of like they're having a conversation with themselves, or maybe with us. It reminds me of some of the botanical studies by other artists. Isn’t it great how artists across time and place can speak to each other through their work? Each piece is like a little spark, igniting something new in the next artist's imagination.
