This Kira, as it is called, was made anonymously with fiber. The colors are rich and earthy, reds and golds punctuated by small green and white rectangles. It has a warmth, an inviting feeling that makes me want to know about the maker, to know what their life was like when they were working on this piece. When I look at this piece, I can just feel the artist's hand at work. It’s a beautiful push and pull between the colors. I imagine the artisan, perhaps humming a little tune, focused but also meditative, feeling the texture of the fiber. I keep thinking about the artist's intentions, the choices they made, and the story they wanted to tell with this textile. It's a conversation across time, the artisan speaking to us through their art, and us responding with our interpretation and appreciation. It's through art like this, in its ambiguity and openness, that we can explore and embrace multiple perspectives.
