Editor: This arresting piece, simply titled "Untitled" by Bahman Mohasses, feels intensely raw. The watercolor medium lends an unsettling fragility to the figure with the gaping mouth. There’s almost a scream trapped within the image, what do you make of it? Curator: A scream, precisely! It’s as if the canvas itself is struggling to contain something primal. I see Mohasses, like a tormented surgeon of the soul, laying bare the interior landscape. Tell me, what does the colour palette evoke for you? Does it whisper secrets, or shout accusations? Editor: The colors... the pastel pinks and blues give it a sickly, almost feverish quality. It feels like a memory fading or perhaps a body breaking down? Curator: Yes! The decay is palpable, isn’t it? Notice the careful use of negative space, almost as if the figure is emerging from – or perhaps dissolving into – the void. Do you feel like it pulls you in? Makes you want to run? Editor: Both, actually. There’s definitely a repulsive pull. What I find interesting is the contrast between that fleshy scream and the delicate beaded necklace. Curator: That necklace! Such a stark contrast – a delicate cage around that raw, exposed throat. Perhaps it speaks to the artist's personal struggle against cultural or political suppression. Or it could be something far more intimate... a personal torment made visible. What do *you* think the necklace means? Editor: I hadn’t thought about it as suppression… More like a cruel decoration, but the idea of it being a cage makes a lot of sense. Curator: Art, like life, has a million layers, waiting to be peeled back. Each one richer than the last. It always comes down to how *we* choose to see, doesn't it?
