Cricorps painted 'Manouk mon sacré chat' with what looks like oil or acrylic, but it’s the way they lay down the strokes that really sings. There’s a raw, immediate quality to the paint application. Patches of bright colors are outlined with thick, dark lines, giving the whole image a stained-glass effect. You can see the hand of the artist in every stroke; it's like the painting is a direct extension of their thoughts and feelings. Look closely at the cat's face, the way the eyes are these bright, almost cartoonish, yellow orbs. There's an immediacy there that I admire. This reminds me a little of work by Jean-Michel Basquiat, that same kind of energy and rawness. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about expression. Art’s not about answers, it’s about the questions we ask.
