This ceramic plate, made by N.V. Société Céramique, features a vase of flowers surrounded by ribbons and shapes. Imagine the artist's hand carefully applying each stroke, the plate slowly turning as the design emerges. The colors are so vibrant and playful. There's this dance between control and spontaneity, each element carefully placed, yet the overall effect feels lighthearted and free. The ribbons playfully wrap around the rim. It feels like this piece emerged through a process of intuition. It makes me think about the ways different forms of art offer us new ways of experiencing the world. Just like in painting, the artist might have been thinking about what is considered worthy of display. The artist is talking to us about form and function. Artists are always in conversation, borrowing and remixing, and this plate is just one note in that ongoing exchange.
