This assemblage, Gloria, Birth of Homo Divinensus - Intelektes, made by Lubo Kristek, seems to burst forth from the wall as if artmaking were a form of chaotic world-building. Kristek's approach feels totally intuitive, you know? Like he's just grabbing whatever's at hand and letting the materials lead the way. The physicality of the piece is intense. There's this old window frame crammed with figures and objects. Check out the surface – it’s rough, layered, like a weird diorama built from dreams and nightmares. And the colours! They're all muted and earthy, except for those crazy red stripes on the figure on the left which really pull you in. There's a strange tension, a feeling that everything is precariously balanced, ready to shift or fall apart. This work reminds me of Kurt Schwitters. Like Schwitters, Kristek creates art from the debris of everyday life. Neither artist is afraid to embrace messiness, ambiguity, and the endless possibilities of found materials. Art is a conversation that keeps evolving.
