Nicolae Darascu conjured Venice Fishermen with oil on canvas, a symphony of pinks, blues, and earthy tones swirling together in an atmospheric haze. I can almost feel Darascu's hand moving across the canvas, layering strokes of color to capture the reflections on the water and the hazy light. I imagine him standing there, squinting at the scene before him, trying to translate the ephemeral beauty of Venice onto a static surface. The paint is applied with a loose, gestural touch, blurring the line between representation and abstraction. I wonder if he struggled to capture the essence of Venice. Did he find himself lost in the details, or did he surrender to the fluidity of the moment? There's something so generous about the way Darascu applied paint, inviting us to lose ourselves in the textures and tones, in the ongoing conversation among painters, reaching across time, speaking through marks and colors.
