With 'Signals', Takis has made an orchestra out of metal, each form a note in a silent song. I imagine him in his studio, surrounded by scraps of metal, coaxing these sculptures into being. There's a beautiful tension in the work, a sense of stillness and potential energy. The metal is solid, unyielding, but the forms are so delicate, almost whimsical. Those slender rods reaching skyward, topped with geometric shapes that hint at language, communication, something just beyond our grasp. Takis is talking to other sculptors, like David Smith or Giacometti. He is interested in how far you can pare something back, how minimal you can go and still evoke feeling. It's a reminder that art is about more than just what we see. It's about the conversation, the questions, the possibilities.
