This photograph, "Sneeuwlandschap," was made by the Wachenheimer family. There’s a sort of tenderness in the greyscale, like a memory trying to hold its shape. You know, the way a photograph can feel like it's about the past, even when it's brand new. I love how the image captures the feeling of being in a snowy landscape. It’s hard to tell, but it looks as though the image was created outside, and that you can see a ski trail. It is almost as if the process of creating this image included a trek up a mountain. There is a sense of movement captured here through the tracks in the snow. It reminds me of Gerhard Richter's blurry photographs that look like paintings and paintings that look like photographs, that play between clarity and ambiguity. Ultimately, art is this endless conversation, a big, messy, beautiful dialogue across time. It’s about embracing the questions, not just hunting for answers.
