Soey Milk made ‘Goyo’ with oil paints, and right away you can see she’s got a real thing for exploring how colors shift. It’s like she’s chasing after that perfect, almost-not-there tint, the way light kinda melts into skin. Look at how she builds up the face, it’s all soft edges and gradual changes. The hair, that pale white, pops right out from the dark behind, but even there, she’s playing with how the light catches and bends. The paint itself isn't trying to hide. You can almost feel the brushstrokes, especially in the way the red flowers kinda blur into the background. It’s as if the painting breathes, letting you see each layer and decision. This reminds me of Jenny Saville's explorations of the body, but Milk has this delicate touch that's all her own. It’s not about nailing down one way of seeing; it’s about letting all these different feelings and perspectives float around together.
