Suite 66 IX
Listen to curator's interpretation
Curatorial notes
Editor: Here we have Robyn Denny’s "Suite 66 IX." I find its geometric design strangely compelling, and the muted colors give it a quiet, almost contemplative mood. What do you see in this piece? Curator: I see a response to the socio-political climate of the 60s. Minimalism, like Denny’s work, can be seen as a reaction against the perceived excesses of consumer culture. Do you think the hard edges and flat planes offer a kind of visual austerity? Editor: I suppose it does. I never thought about it that way. Thanks! Curator: It's been a pleasure!
