This earthenware plate, was created by Petrus Regout. Its circular form is divided into three distinct bands, each contributing to the plate's visual and structural harmony. The central medallion features red-brown flowering branches set against a white ground. This creates a focal point that draws the eye inward. Encircling this is a blue-grey band adorned with geometric patterns that suggest a delicate lattice or screen. This band acts as a transitional zone, mediating between the detailed center and the outer rim. The outermost band continues the floral motifs, arranging them in a rhythmic sequence around the plate's edge. The choice of color and the careful distribution of the decorative elements serve not merely as ornamentation but also as a means to articulate space and depth. The plate functions as a microcosm of design principles. The interplay of color, pattern, and form invite us to consider the ways in which utilitarian objects can also serve as vehicles for aesthetic expression.
