This page of notes, made by J.A. Jerichau sometime before 1916, is a fascinating window into an artist's mind at work. The pale paper is densely covered in looping handwriting, almost like a landscape of thoughts. It's a process unfolding right before our eyes. Look closely at the pressure of the pen on the page, the way the ink pools in certain spots, creating darker accents. It's so physical, you can almost feel the artist's hand moving across the surface, chasing an idea. See how the lines sometimes overlap and intersect? It’s like the artist is wrestling with concepts of Raphael, the Renaissance, and their own creative power, trying to pin them down on the page. This reminds me of Cy Twombly's scribbled canvases, but with words instead of marks. Both artists share that sense of art as a raw, unfiltered outpouring of thought, a space where meaning is made through the very act of creation. Art isn't about answers, it's about the questions we ask along the way.
