This bronze medal commemorates the death of R. Honnorez, Grand Archivist of the Grand Lodge of Administration in Brussels. It features Honnorez in profile and, on the reverse, a neoclassical tomb adorned with symbolic imagery. Note the anchor, a symbol of hope and steadfastness that dates back to ancient maritime cultures, and the winged hourglass, a memento mori reminding us of the fleeting nature of time. Above the tomb, we see a crown, which might appear simple at first glance, but has long served as a symbol of authority and legitimacy. Its presence reminds us of the intricate dance between power, mortality, and remembrance. These symbols evoke our deeply rooted human concern with time, legacy, and the search for meaning in the face of death, reflecting humanity's enduring need to create visual narratives that grapple with our existence.
