Leo Gestel made this drawing of two nude women, probably on paper, using simple lines and shading. Looking at the image, I can almost feel the artist’s hand moving quickly, trying to capture the essence of these figures. Those loose lines, they’re not about perfection but about feeling. You can see the artist working through ideas, changing the lines as they go. I wonder what Gestel was thinking as he drew. Was he fascinated by the play of light on the water, or the way the women relaxed in the sun? Maybe he was just experimenting with shapes and forms, pushing the boundaries. I love how the bodies are simplified, almost abstract, yet full of life. It reminds me of other painters, like Paula Modersohn-Becker. Ultimately, it’s about how artists keep inspiring each other across time, engaging in a visual conversation that never really ends. It's a reminder that art doesn’t need to be precise, but honest and full of feeling.
