Henry Meyers sketched this Pewter Tankard on paper, and it’s a beautifully detailed drawing of the object. Just look at those delicate lines building up the form, creating a sense of volume and depth. I can almost feel the coolness of the metal and the weight of the tankard in my hand. It's as though Meyers wasn't just depicting an object but trying to understand its very essence. I imagine him, pencil in hand, moving back and forth, carefully observing the play of light and shadow on the pewter surface. There’s a wonderful stillness to the piece. It feels like he’s not only captured the physical presence of the tankard but also something of its history. It’s a lovely piece that makes me want to go sketch something myself! Artists are always in conversation, aren’t they, learning from one another across time and space?
